Travel directory
FlyDunya
A travel site for a new brand, covering destinations, tours and offers across a deep content hierarchy. Built to be maintained by the client for years rather than rebuilt.
What I did
- Built a four level content hierarchy across six custom post types, countries to cities to destinations to activities, plus tours and offers, with bidirectional ACF relationships that stay in sync from either side
- Wrote custom rewrite rules and permalink filters, because WordPress has no native concept of a nested hierarchy like this
- Mirrored relationship data into hidden taxonomies so the builder's filters could query it, keeping authoring in ACF and filtering on taxonomy queries
- Moved complex output into PHP shortcodes in the theme rather than builder logic, so presentation stays in version control
- Built eleven templates covering every listing and detail type, all driven by dynamic data
- Ran a full architectural audit of the live build afterwards and produced a documented remediation plan
